We worship in Christian community every Sunday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., with Holy Communion offered the first and third Sundays of each month. Through song, scripture, praise, and action, we make the journey of discipleship together. There is also a 6 p.m. Service of Scripture, Song, and Prayer.
Please join us in joyful song. The United Church Choir rehearses every Sunday morning at 9:45 am in the Library in the undercroft (lower level). We'll learn new songs and variety of musical traditions from other cultures, and also revisit some favorite old tunes.
Adult Study Groups
We hold an open Adult Bible Study Group every Sunday before Worship from 9:30 until 10:45 am. We also offer a Women's Bible Study Group that meets every Wednesday from 10 a.m. until noon. An Evening Bible Study group meets at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and small groups are offered throughout the year and will be announced.
After School Ministry
Our After School Program is offered free of charge to the neighborhood and provides a safe space for an average of 40 children, grades kindergarten through 8th, every year. Within this program, we offer homework tutoring, arts and crafts time, yoga and dance classes, Peacemakers Tae Kwon Do, as well as a gardening club.
Summer Camp Ministry
Summer Camp, another program offered free of charge, is offered every summer to youth, grades K-8th, for 5 or 6 weeks. Children spend 3 days a week at the church participating in art & crafts, music club, games, and Bible study. The last two years, thanks to strong donor support, we have been able to have a carnival day to wrap up camp, with a waterside, face painting, games, and snacks.
Children’s Gardening Club
Our Children’s Garden Summer Class provides two months of garden education programming for neighborhood children, ranging in age from 5 to 12 years old. The daily classes incorporate garden care, arts and crafts, and lessons on nutrition and sustainability. They explore a variety of topics, including how growing food can help us care for our bodies, the Earth, and our community. The children get the satisfaction of seeing their garden blossom under their care and get to eat the literal fruits of their labor.
Sunday, 4-6 p.m. - Every Sunday for the past 30 years, offering a free hot meal to those in need. Staffed entirely by volunteers. Followed by a worship service.
Bringing the Christmas spirit to families in the neighborhood who may be in need.
Women's Creative Circle
Women wanting to explore, express and share their creativity are welcome to stop by the Women’s Creative Circle that meets three days a week in the church craft studio, currently located in the undercroft. Co-Directors Holly Davis and Sharilyn Suggs have established the hours as follows:
Tuesdays and Thursdays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturdays, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Sewing teacher Jill Graham is available on Thursdays to assist on projects,
or help new sewers learn the basics; and Holly and Sharilyn’s enthusiasm and warm welcome are available every session! Some of the women’s creations are available for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the church and/or United Methodist Women. Come see our purses, tote bags, pillows, and more -- and come make your own creations, perhaps to decorate your home for the holidays or to make original gifts! We look forward to seeing you soon!
Mission Trip Center
Junior High, High School, and College Groups work with our after school program during spring break, the Gardening Class in the Spring and Summer, Summer Children's Camp, and
remodeling around the building. This center focuses on a residential immersion experience helping youth wrestle with urban issues such as poverty, homelessness, and immigration.
"New To You!" Thrift Shop
