Community Feast

Information
Since 1984, the United Church of Rogers Park has provided a Sunday dinner for neighborhood residents in our 3rd floor Overdier Hall.

All are welcome. We do not require any proof of need. We prepare a complete, hot, nutritious meal each week that includes meat, pasta/rice/potato, vegetable, fruit, salad and/or soup, dessert and beverage. We also provide bread and butter on each table for people to enjoy while waiting for their meal.

We open our doors at 4:00 p.m. and serve dinner until 6:00 p.m. Following each meal, in the Parlor behind our dining room, we offer a service of song, prayer, and conversation for anyone who is interested.
Volunteers

Many hands make light work and each week volunteers prepare and serve this meal. This effort involves not only members of United Church but also partners from other faith, students, and business communities.

We welcome volunteers of ALL ages (adults should accompany anyone under 13 years)

We need 8-10 volunteers each Sunday for the following:

2:30 to 4:00 Set up and Food Preparation

Jobs include: Setting up tables and chairs; bagging donated bread; opening cans for cooking; other kitchen help as needed; preparing beverages; wrapping plastic ware; and setting up items for serving

4:30 to 7:00 Serving and Clean up

Jobs include: Putting food on trays or taking tray to guests (who remain seated); washing or drying dishes; cleaning off tables; taking down tables and chairs, sweeping floor and putting away supplies.
